
Course Objectives: Problem Solving & Design Thinking
This course provides students with a structured framework to tackle "complex problems" and drive innovation through a human-centered lens. Students will move from intuitive work to a rigorous, iterative methodology, using different techniques.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Adopt a Human-Centered Mindset: Develop deep empathy to uncover latent user needs and pain points through ethnographic research.

Navigate the Innovation Cycle: Apply the framework of the five stages of Design Thinking (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test).

Frame and Refine Problems: Transition from vague challenges to actionable "How Might We" statements by analyzing root causes.

Master Creative Ideation: Utilize divergence techniques to generate high-volume, out-of-the-box solutions without premature judgment.

Critical Thinking: Distinguish between the analytical method ( 5 whys) and the systemic method in complex problems.

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of group dynamics, teamwork, and leadership in organizational settings. It explores the differences between groups and teams and examines how individuals influence groups and how groups shape individual behavior.
The course also presents key leadership styles and their impact on team management, conflict resolution, and overall team performance. Through practical examples and discussions, students develop a basic understanding of how effective leadership and collaboration contribute to successful team outcomes in professional environments.
